O disco anterior \u00e9 &#8220;Riot Sound Effects&#8221;, de 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Quando da divulga\u00e7\u00e3o da m\u00fasica de trabalho, &#8220;Just Loneliness Can Save The World&#8221;, S\u00e9rgio Costa, guitarra e vocal da banda, afirmou que o disco \u00e9 &#8220;pol\u00edtico&#8221;: &#8220;o mundo evolui, as coisas se transformam e n\u00f3s n\u00e3o queremos fazer sempre o mesmo. Foram anos em que o mundo mudou. Tornou-se mais agressivo, polarizado. Come\u00e7amos a escrever sobre esse &#8216;novo mundo&#8217; e isso se traduz na sonoridade, mais agressiva. A impress\u00e3o que se tinha, ao constatar as possibilidades infinitas de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o que as redes sociais oferecem, era a de que a democracia estava em progresso. O resultado foi justamente o inverso&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>O mundo deu uma guinada em dire\u00e7\u00e3o a pensamentos e atitudes n\u00e3o democr\u00e1ticas, com Donald Trump nos Esteites, Bolsonaro no Brasil, Rodrigo Duterte nas Filipinas, Recep Erdo\u011fan na Turquia etc. sendo eleitos e se apoderando das institui\u00e7\u00f5es pra agravar o distanciamento entre ricos e pobres e o discurso de \u00f3dio contra minorias. O mundo tem ficado louco: massas manipuladas pelas novas ferramentas de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o e difus\u00e3o de terror midi\u00e1tico contra opositores.<\/p>\n<p>O Malcontent coloca tudo isso no disco. O peso das can\u00e7\u00f5es, mais pr\u00f3ximas de um Black Rebel Motorcycle Club do que de um Jesus &#038; Mary Chain, sublinha o momento dram\u00e1tico que vivemos. Ao inv\u00e9s de amaciarmos as coisas, estamos tornando tudo mais \u00e1spero.
